The miniskirt is today about 44 years old.
Almost all the women love it and even more than that it is loved by men.
The mother of the miniskirt is Mary Quant,a british young designer that opened her butique Bazaar on King’s Road in 1955.
Her clothes reflected the ideas of the day’s youth and had nothing to do with the fashion houses of Paris.
She represented a true breakaway in fashion.
In 1965 she raised the hemline of her skirts a few inches above the knee and so the miniskirt was born. She named it after her favorite car, the Mini, and it was an instant success and epitomized the spirit of London in the mid-60s: free, energetic, youthful and revolutionary.
Of course it changed a lot since that time. The few inches over the knee became a lot more and the miniskirt is considered one of the sexiest pieces ever worn.
